i have a tough time thinking of titles for my pieces. i will toss out a title and hope it sticks, but like with everything in my life i look at it later and think it would be better in another way. there is a book called invisible colors: a visual history of titles by john c. welchman which opens up a pretty scholarly dialogue about the importance of titles, meanings and histories. i enjoy using text in my works and sometimes without knowing it fuck up...e.g. portrait of slow-poke rodriguez... i had written the spanish word for fan upside down as a foil against  the word 'amigos'... so while i was working on said painting, i quickly wrote
